Chitralis chalk out own disaster risk management plans

The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) in Pakistan has trained youth volunteers to regularly assess and monitor the incidence of glacier surges by using tools and scientific equipment and then to report this data to AKAH. The involvement of local volunteers helps AKAH monitor glacier surge and glacial lakes in critical situations, and helps prepare communities for evacuation before the situation becomes worse.
