Es’hak Baluch Nasab is a master of the epic singing tradition known as shervândi, a style of Baluchi music with strong connections to the Makrân coastal region. Baluch-Nasab hopes to continue to draw global attention to Baluchi culture, preserving the poetry essential to its spirit and drawing attention to the sophisticated melodies that embody some 20 melodic modes. Baluch-Nasab was awarded the title of Doctor of Arts by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, a rare feat in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and currently teaches at the Music Association of the city of Châhbahâr.
