Aga Khan Trust for Culture

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) demonstrates how investing in culture can foster physical, social and economic development. It includes the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme, the Aga Khan Music Programme and the Aga Khan Music Award, the AKTC Education Programme and the Aga Khan Museum.


Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, AKTC leverages culture to advance sustainable development. It promotes debate about the built environment, cultural heritage, and the importance of historic memory, improving understanding of the diverse cultures of the Muslim world.
