March 2017 - Our earliest years lay critical foundations for life and yet worldwide 250 million children age 0-5 are not reaching their potential. For over 30 years, in places where families have limited access to quality learning environments, the Aga Khan Foundation has worked with its partners to ensure young children a better start in life through its early childhood development programmes. This has been the case in Portugal, where for over three decades the Foundation has been carefully raising the standards of the pre-school experience, by encompassing not only care but also crucial development and learning opportunities that help young children interact more effectively and confidently with their world. This 4-minute video provides an overview of the programme, whose approach and successes are going to greater scale to help more of Portugal’s children reach their full potential.
