For decades Serena Hotels have been committed to responsible tourism practices. Proparco – an arm of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) – undertook a study to evaluate the developmental impact of these practices in the East African region. What effects were they having in terms of job creation, in terms of reducing the region’s carbon footprint, in terms of preserving the environment and protecting its natural resources?
