“When I first joined the Academy, I was a closed thinker. I never got the support to act out what I thought. But when I came to the Academy, I was shown how to be open-minded, how to be adventurous, creative, how to not just be confined into that comfort zone that limits me and what I could achieve.”
Raphael Mwachiti is amongst a diverse group of students attending the Aga Khan Academies through a full scholarship Talent Identification Programme. In this short film, he talks about his home and community in Kinango, his experience at the Academy in Mombasa, and how he hopes to bring job opportunities to youth in his community through his technological innovations.
