The first Aga Khan Polyclinic has been opened by the Aga Khan Health Service, Tanzania, with support from the Agence Française de Développement. The Polyclinic is one of 25 Outreach Health Centres that provide frontline care to over a million patients per year in Tanzania.
It is situated in the Old Dispensary at Stone Town in Zanzibar Island. The building dates from 1887 and was restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in the 1990s. Speakers at the launch included Her Excellency First Lady Mariam Mwinyi, Princess Zahra Aga Khan and His Excellency Nabil Hajlaoui, Ambassador of France to Tanzania.
