A maternity hospital built as part of Japan’s official development assistance opened in Darvaza

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan Toshihiro Aiki, Chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region Alisher Mirzonabot, Chairman of the Darvaz region Umedjon Nosirzoda and the head of the Aga Khan Foundation's health programme Lailo Kurbonmamadova took part in the completion ceremony of the “Project for the construction of a maternity hospital in Darvaza”. The event was also attended by representatives of the state executive body, health workers and village residents. The implementation of this project will enable the maternity hospital to operate by providing medical services and enabling mothers to give birth in a safe and healthy environment, thereby promoting the well-being of newborns.
