Researchers from the University of Central Asia (UCA) and Tajikistan’s National Academy of Sciences have launched long-term monitoring of Glacier No. 431 in the Murghab River basin, Eastern Pamir. The first comprehensive field expedition installed 12 ablation stakes to measure ice melt and established a baseline for annual observations. Future research will combine field measurements, satellite data, meteorological and hydrological monitoring to better understand glacier change and its contribution to the Murghab basin’s water resources.
