Every three years hundreds of building projects from countries with a significant Muslim presence compete in the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for US$ 1 million in prize money. This year, out of 348 projects, 19 have made the shortlist across 14 different countries. Frances Marcellin checks out three of these innovative architectural designs.
