The Aga Khan Health Services, Tanzania (AKHST), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), has donated chemotherapy equipment to support cancer treatment services at Mount Meru Regional Referral Hospital in Arusha. The donation, provided through the East Africa Comprehensive Women Cancer Project (EA-CwCP), included patient recliners, infusion pumps and bio-safety equipment aimed at improving chemotherapy service delivery and ensuring the safety of both patients and healthcare workers. AKHST representative Mr Murtazar Mukhtar said the institution remains committed to supporting government efforts through investment in equipment, infrastructure and training. “This contribution forms part of our broader strategy to combat cancer and other noncommunicable diseases by strengthening health systems and improving access to quality care,” he said.
