The Aga Khan Foundation will finance the rehabilitation work of the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Afflição which was destroyed by a fire in in Gondomar, Portugal last year. The ceremony to sign the protocol agreement took place at the Diwan of the Ismaili Imamat, in Lisbon, and was attended by Prince Amyn Aga Khan, the Apostolic Nuncio, the Patriarch of Lisbon, as well as representatives of government, the Chamber of Gondomar and Nazim Ahmad, Diplomatic Representative of the Ismaili Imamat. The restoration project will be led by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), in collaboration with Gondomar City Hall, the local parish and owners, standing out "as an example of community resilience and appreciation of cultural and spiritual heritage."
