Mahmoud Eboo, AKDN Representative Canada, recently gave an interview to the Portuguese newspaper Publico, in which he explains more about why this week's event is important for the Ismaili Community. The Diamond Jubilee of His Highness marks his 60 years as Imam. The reason that these activities are being held in Portugal is the long relationship with the country and the fact that the Portuguese Government invited His Highness to Lisbon as a guest of the State. The Diamond Jubilee commemorations are an excellent opportunity to showcase the diversity of the Ismaili Community.
