In December 2019, the Aga Khan University (AKU) organised a conference on Gender Equity and Women in Leadership. Hosted with the support of the University’s Provost and Vice-President, Dr Carl Amrhein, the conference brought together change-makers to enable more women to reach leadership positions. Women’s empowerment and gender equality are important principles at AKU and since its founding in 1983, AKU has been promoting the welfare and advancement of women and putting it in a unique position to address gender equality in the countries it operates.
