On September 9, His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan will travel to New Delhi where he will be received by national authorities and will then meet with the country's Ismaili community until September 15. His visit will be punctuated by didars – communion with his followers – in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Hyderabad and will lay the groundwork for new partnerships between the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and the government of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister since 2014. In Delhi, the restoration of Humayun's Mausoleum remains one of the most impressive projects undertaken by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. This 16th-century masterpiece is regaining its splendour after two decades of partnership with the Archaeological Survey of India, incorporating several related projects: the creation of a 36-hectare arboretum, the rehabilitation of surrounding school and sanitation infrastructure, and the ecological management of water and waste.
