AKF to Plant Hundreds of Thousands of Trees in Bamyan to Combat Climate Change

The Aga Khan Foundation has announced plans to plant 354,000 fruit-bearing and non-fruit-bearing saplings in Bamyan province, Afghanistan, as part of initiatives to address climate change. Mohammad Ibrahim Dadfar, Head of the Bamyan Environmental Protection Department, recently met with a representative from the foundation to discuss collaborative efforts in tackling climate change in the region. The foundation’s representative confirmed that the large-scale tree-planting campaign will commence at the start of the new year, aiming to contribute significantly to environmental restoration and climate resilience in Bamyan. Dadfar emphasised the need for enhanced cooperation from the Aga Khan Foundation to ensure the success of the tree-planting programme, including public awareness campaigns focused on protecting and nurturing the newly planted saplings.
