In Pakistan, people living in scores of villages and hooked to the Grovur Gol powerhouse have called upon the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) to help them replace the main supply lines. In the narrow valley of Grovur where the powerhouse is located, the wires are frequently hit by falling stones from the mountains and broken. The powerhouse caters to over 500 houses in the villages of Phashk, Yukum, Mahting, Khruzg, Dizg and Istach. The powerhouse was built with the support of the AKRSP and is managed by the local people.
