The Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Brain and Mind Institute is expected to unveil the Brain Resilience Kenya Study, against a backdrop of the aging brain as populations age. The study, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Africa, focuses on both healthy adults, including caregivers and those recently diagnosed with cancer, aged 35 years and above. The study aims to uncover insights that could benefit older adults across Kenya and the continent, offering a unique opportunity to compare how different stressors like illness and other adversities affect brain resilience. The launch is expected to offer a platform for discussion and collaboration on innovative solutions for improving brain resilience and healthy aging.
