AKU’s Impact and Climate Advocacy Take Center Stage at Global Encounters Festival

The Aga Khan University’s (AKU) prominent participation in the Global Encounters Festival in Dubai highlighted pressing global challenges and showcased its far-reaching impact. At the heart of AKU’s involvement was the ‘A Transformative Vision’ exhibition, which drew in over 5,100 visitors. This exhibition unveiled the University’s historical journey through captivating visuals and rare archival content, while a novel Virtual Reality (VR) component allowed participants to explore AKU’s campuses and research centres, including a sneak peek at the forthcoming Kampala campus. This interactive approach offered attendees an unprecedented view into AKU’s dynamic growth and enduring dedication to societal enhancement. The festival also served as a gathering for AKU’s broad network of alumni, patrons, and allies. The ‘Friends of AKU’ reunion welcomed around 300 guests, offering a private tour of the exhibition and fostering dialogue with university leaders. The event underscored the critical role of community support in AKU’s achievements and provided a platform for alumni to engage and celebrate their collective mission of humanitarian service.
