An important initiative has been launched to improve maternal and child health in the Balha development block of Bahraich district, India. The Integrated Village Development Project, run by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and funded by IndusInd Bank, distributed digital haemoglobin meters and test strips to Auxiliary Nurse Midwives. The aim is to ensure timely identification and effective management of anaemia in women during pregnancy. The AKF’s Holistic Village Development Project, in collaboration with IndusInd Bank, is actively working towards improving maternal and child nutrition, strengthening anaemia management and accelerating efforts to eliminate malnutrition. During the programme, necessary technical information regarding correct use, maintenance and documentation of haemoglobin was also provided to the health workers.
