In the remote village of Baniyani in Uttar Pradesh, India, where access to early childhood care and education is limited, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) has developed an innovative initiative called Child Junction. This vibrant, open-air space offers young children aged one to eight a safe and stimulating environment to explore, play, and learn. In the absence of a nearby centre, Child Junction fills a critical gap by providing opportunities for holistic early development. The space is designed to be multi-sensory and inclusive, featuring tactile walls, climbing structures, swings, sound walls and a textured pathway. These elements are not only fun but are also carefully curated to support the physical, cognitive, and emotional growth of children.
