Driving Pakistan polio eradication forward

Government representatives, technical partners and public health experts met at Aga Khan University in Karachi to review Pakistan’s steady progress toward polio eradication and to map the critical steps remaining in the final phase. Participants agreed that the last mile presents the greatest challenge and the greatest opportunity in the campaign to stop transmission. Strong government leadership, continued partner support and active community engagement were highlighted as the pillars that will carry Pakistan toward eradication. Strengthening collaboration at national, provincial and local levels and maintaining momentum across all partners remain imperative. With sustained action and unity, the goal of a polio-free future for every child in Pakistan can be achieved.
