East African education stakeholders have called for a rethink of teacher preparation as technology, artificial intelligence, climate change and changing learning needs reshape the education landscape. The call was made during a Regional Learning Exchange hosted by Aga Khan University’s Institute for Educational Development, East Africa (IED, EA), which brought together teacher educators, policymakers, researchers, school leaders, development partners, student teachers and education practitioners from across the region and beyond. Held under the theme “Reimagining Teacher Preparation: An East African Learning Exchange on Innovation and Practice,” the exchange provided a platform for participants to share experiences, explore emerging practices and develop practical solutions to strengthen teacher preparation across the region.
