Eight women from diverse professional backgrounds have been honoured with the Dukhtaran-e-Pakistan Excellence Awards 2026 for their contributions to public service, social development, women’s empowerment and strengthening institutions in Pakistan. The awards were organised by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, the Ministry of Defence, the ministry responsible for culture and national heritage, and the Islamabad Centre of National Cohesion and Outreach. An alumna of Harvard Business School and the London School of Economics, winner Laila Taj, Director of Communications at the Aga Khan Development Network, Pakistan, has worked in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, the US and Afghanistan, collaborating with governments, development organisations and communities on poverty reduction, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, education and inclusive development.
