Contemporary architecture offers answers to the challenges of the contemporary world, from the climate crisis to social inequality and rapid urban expansion, not just with stone and concrete, but with profound human visions. The independent Master Jury for the 16th cycle of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture (2023-2025) announced the names of seven winning projects from Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia, carefully selected after an extensive field review of the shortlisted projects. This year's winning projects explore architecture's potential as a catalyst for pluralism and societal resilience, social transformation and cultural dialogue, and climate-responsive design. These outstanding projects will share a $1 million prize, one of the world's largest architecture awards, at a ceremony at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic Hall in Bishkek on 15 September.
