The Satpara Development Project in Pakistan, funded by USAID and implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, helped build both the Satpara dam and its power generation stations. The project was carried out by USAID to increase access of farmers to irrigation and achieve increased agricultural production and economic opportunities. USAID acting Deputy Mission Director commented on the strong partnership between the Gilgit-Baltistan Government, USAID, AKF and local farming community and noted that thousands of farmers in the region now had better economic opportunities.
