Last month, the Geological Survey of Pakistan hosted an international conference on geological hazards in Islamabad bringing together experts from around the world to address the country’s growing risk of earthquakes and climate-related disasters. Dr Sajjad Ahmad, Director General of GSP, opened the event, while Dr Roger Bilham (USA) and Dr François Jouanne (France) delivered keynote talks on seismic gaps and tectonic activity. Sessions were also hosted by UNESCO Pakistan, the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, and the Pakistan Engineering Council.
