On 11 September, at the Kazan International Airport, Tatarstan State Counsellor and UNESCO Special Envoy for Intercultural Dialogue, Mintimer Shaimiev, welcomed His Highness. His Highness arrived in Tatarstan to attend the award ceremony of the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture to be held in the Jalil Tatar Academic State
