It might be buried in snow right now, but there's a unique garden in Toronto that's worth a visit at any time of year, even in winter. The Aga Khan Park is Toronto's newest park, designed by Lebanon-based landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic. Installed in 2015, it connects the Aga Khan Museum to the neighbouring Ismaili Centre. Inspired by Islamic gardens with an age-old connection to those of Persia and the Mughal Empire, the beautiful and serene seven-hectare park is filled with more than a thousand trees and shrubs, serene reflecting pools of granite and a two-kilometre walking path. Mughal gardens are influenced by the Charbagh style, an Indo-Persian geometric garden. They traditionally form four gardens, sometimes within walled enclosures separated by waterways with pools, fountains and canals to provide a cooling and contemplative effect.
