Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani, Minister of Information and Culture of Afghanistan, says Bala Hissar (Kabul) stands as a symbol of the country’s ancient civilisation and historical identity, according to a statement from the ministry today. During a visit to the site’s laboratory, exhibition, and museum, Haqqani emphasised that Bala Hissar reflects Afghanistan’s long-standing role as a centre of culture, civilisation, and human interaction. He stressed that preserving and protecting the historic site is a shared responsibility, calling for coordinated efforts to conserve, document, and properly present it to future generations. Officials from the Aga Khan Foundation updated the minister on ongoing work at the site, including archaeological studies and the preservation of discovered artifacts. According to engineers involved in the project, artifacts uncovered at Bala Hissar are first examined in on-site laboratories, then displayed in the local museum before being transferred to the National Museum.
