Mullah Abdul Wasi Khadim, head of the Prime Minister's Office of Afghanistan said that the country is committed to preserving cultural heritage. Khadem made these remarks during a visit to the reconstruction of Herat's fifth minaret. "Preserving cultural heritage is the duty of all of us, and the Islamic Emirate is committed to preserving these valuable artifacts for future generations," he added. Meanwhile, Herat's fifth minaret is being rebuilt with the financial support of the Aga Khan Foundation. The fifth minaret is one of the minarets in Herat city, which has become known as the "crooked minaret" due to the destruction of parts of it. These historical monuments are one of the oldest minarets of Herat's Mosalla and belong to the Goharshad Begum complex.
