According to Ratish Nanda, AKTC’s Chief Executive, the tomb’s condition was precarious when the project began. It was “a very complex” project. The restoration began in association with the Archaeological Survey of India and funding from InterGlobe, an Indian conglomerate. It took them a year just to strengthen the foundation. The project was expected to be finished in three years, but it will take another 12 months and is expected to open to the public by mid 2019.
