In Tanzania, Kongwa District Hospital is set to introduce a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to provide healthcare for ill and premature infants, a move that will help reduce infant mortality in the area. The hospital recently received a donation of equipment for the NICU from Doris Mollel Foundation (DMF). DMF donated some equipment thanks to the support from Diamond Trust Bank (DTB). The donation included incubators, mechanical ventilation, gastronomy tube (Gastric feeding tube) and special beds. DTB Marketing Officer, Mr Sylvester Bhati, said the support was part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), saying DTB-Tanzania sets aside 2% of funds from its profits for the programme.
