In Afghanistan, acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), regarding the restoration of the historic Bala Hissar fortress. According to the MoU, the AKTC will reconstruct and consolidate the walls and the structure of the Bala Hissar fortress as well as establish an archeological park in its compound. Minister Zuhair thanked the cooperation of the AKDN in the areas of restoration of the country’s historical monuments and expressed gratitude for AKTC’s cooperation in the restoration of the cultural sites, including Chehelstoon Park.
