The Syrian Ministry of Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) to enhance cooperation in water and sanitation projects. The agreement aims to improve water services and promote sustainable resource management across several Syrian regions. It targets the modernisation of water infrastructure through the rehabilitation of transmission lines, the construction of new pumping stations, and the installation of storage tanks. Ghatfan Ajoub, the Resident Representative of AKDN in Syria, highlighted that this project is part of a broader commitment to the Syrian people. The network plans to implement projects valued at over €100 million throughout 2026 and 2027, focusing on providing clean, sustainable drinking water to multiple regions.
