Mobile clinics made possible by an OCHA-managed pooled fund are helping remote communities in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado Province access timely healthcare. The non-governmental organization, CARE, together with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), are solving some of the challenges faced by the remote communities. Supported by the Mozambique Humanitarian Fund, CARE and AKF provide logistical support to district health authorities, enabling health teams to reach Moconi and other remote communities across Chiure district. "For many remote communities, distance remains one of the greatest barriers to healthcare,” said Sebastiao Madeira with AKF. “By bringing services directly to people, mobile brigades are not only improving access to care but also strengthening communities' connection to the health system."
