Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah stressed the need for broad-based, multi-disciplinary education to meet the challenges facing the country. Speaking as chief guest at the Aga Khan University (AKU) 29th convocation, he said, “We need natural scientists and social scientists, writers and artists, entrepreneurs and public policy experts who can work across boundaries of all kinds in order to start and lead progress in a wide range of fields”. Praising the AKU plans to invest in the new Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) in Karachi, he spoke of the social contribution that a liberal arts education could make.
