In Tanzania, blood donor recruiter, from the National Blood Transfusion Services (NBTS), Fatuma Mjungu, urged to donate blood to rescue lives at the blood donation exercise organised by the Aga Khan Hospital (AKH). According to her, donating enough blood would help overcome shortage of blood in the country. Family Physician at the AKH, Dr Nakiganda Mkasa, said that the number of patients demanding blood has doubled especially in the Eastern zone. "The youths have made a great contribution by donating blood to the patients in need of it especially during emergencies and to those suffering from Non Communicable Diseases," she said.
