At the April meeting of the Kazakh National Council for Science and Technology, the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev rightly emphasised, "Where science is strong, the state will be strong. Without science, the country is doomed. And a country with advanced science will be able to overcome any crisis. When science flourishes, the economy flourishes, and the well-being of the people increases." According to the Times Higher Education international university rankings last year, Nazabayev University is in the top 30% of the world’s best universities, 129th among Asian universities, and 106th among young universities. Today, NU is implementing more than 300 research projects, many of which are funded by renowned international organisations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aga Khan Foundation, the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme, the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Chevron and others. These projects cover a wide range of topics – from molecular virology research to the development of innovative methods for teaching children with special needs. By actively supporting research in various fields, NU remains at the forefront of technological development in the region.
