Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for coordinated efforts by the federal and provincial governments, along with all stakeholders, to eradicate Hepatitis C from Pakistan. He pledged to promote and expand the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Programme nationwide. The initiative, which was supported by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Aga Khan Health Services Pakistan (AKHSP), and Aga Khan University (AKU), is set to expand nationwide over the next three years. Speaking at a recognition ceremony marking the successful completion of the pilot project of the Prime Minister’s National Hepatitis C Elimination Programme in Gilgit-Baltistan, he emphasised the significance of the initiative in addressing the widespread impact of the disease across the country. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister honoured key contributors to the Gilgit-Baltistan pilot project.
