Reconstruction work on three historic sites in Kabul will begin soon, the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) of Afghanistan said recently. The projects include the Shahrara Tower, the building of Amir Dost Mohammad Khan High School and the mausoleum of Sultan Talai on Nader Khan Hill. Accompanying a technical team and officials from the Aga Khan Trust for Culture to the Shahrara Tower, Deputy Minister for Culture and Arts Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi described the tower as one of the country’s key historical monuments, stressing that its preservation and restoration are essential for safeguarding cultural heritage. Azizi added that the ministry is committed to launching rehabilitation work soon, in coordination with partner organisations, to protect the site from further deterioration.
