Following the comprehensive restoration efforts by the Department of Heritage Telangana and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), the Deccan Archive, in collaboration with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INACH) in Hyderabad, organised a heritage walk to showcase the significance and rich history of the over 500-year-old Qutb Shahi tombs. “Dedicated to the sixth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty…this monument has undergone meticulous conservation work which was aimed at reviving the original splendour of the tomb,” said Sibghat Khan, who led the walk, adding the 20th-centre cement and plaster layers were carefully removed from the dome and the façade. The process revealed intricate, glazed tile details, shedding light on the monument’s original appearance.
