The Santander Portugal Foundation has joined hands with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), which leads the Schools2030 initiative, to support the training of 1,500 teachers with new skills in Portugal and to increase the number of schools that already benefit from the programme. Santander is the first national entity to join the initiative. The partnership foresees an investment of euros 300,000 until the 2026-2027 academic year, including support for scientific research into new educational practices, and the creation of a “pool” of 30 trainers this year. “The Schools2030 Programme reflects the commitment of a global consortium to transform the education system, starting with the strengthening of teachers,” said Karim Merali, CEO of AKF Portugal. The overall objective, he added, is “to improve the holistic learning of children and young people around the world”.
