The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) supports a programme which consists in offering goats and poultry to some villagers to improve their livelihood. Gurpreet Bhatia, AKRSP’s cluster manager at Pandhana, has found that the incomes of those maintaining poultry increases by Rs 10,000 every two to two and half months. Villagers have taken loans up to Rs 3 crore for agriculture, education of children, goat keeping and poultry and for improving their livelihood options.
