Experts from Aga Khan University have started experimental cultivation of a wheat variety in different districts of Sindh, to meet zinc deficiency in children. shortage of important mineral element or micronutrient zinc in food due to climate change. Experts of the Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD), a subsidiary of Aga Khan University, have conducted research on health and development of this unique type of wheat named Akbar-19. Independent Urdu spoke exclusively to Dr. Zulfiqar Bhatta, Founder Director, Institute for Global Health and Development, a subsidiary of Aga Khan University, and Dr. Jai K. Das, Assistant Director and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Child Health, on this unique variety of wheat that helps meet the shortage of micronutrient zinc in the human diet.
