A consortium led by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and with the participation of dstgroup, Sintra City Council, University of Lisbon, among other entities, completed the Living Laboratory for Decarbonisation and Mitigation of Climate Change, Sintra Motion and Innovation for Low Emissions (SMILE), in the Tabaqueira neighborhood, in Sintra. The project saved 16 tonnes of carbon dioxide. The objective of this project is to promote decarbonisation actions, based on experimentation with technological solutions in the areas of circular economy, mobility, energy & buildings, community & art, as well as the involvement of citizens in the process and the dynamisation of the arts. “The project represented a huge challenge for testing innovative decarbonisation solutions and testing “win-win” partnerships between city and industry,” said Raul Bordalo Junqueiro, Head of SmartCities and Business Development at dstgroup.
