A joint training camp to strengthen community preparedness and enhance volunteers’ ability to respond to emergencies and disasters concluded Thursday in Tartous Province, Syria, with the participation of around 100 trainees. The camp was organised by the Volunteer Management Department at the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management in cooperation with the Aga Khan Foundation. Mamoun Khatib, Director of the Aga Khan Foundation’s Emergency Management Programme, said the camp reflects the strategic partnership between the foundation and the ministry, and aims to develop the skills and preparedness of community-based volunteer teams.
