In a recent op-ed, Dr Fernando Ramirez, IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka, argues that the IB MYP is built around "disciplined curiosity" rather than memorisation — teaching students aged 11–16 to investigate, interpret and think for themselves. Inquiry, concept-based learning, and "approaches to learning" skills such as critical thinking and self-management sit at the heart of the programme. The author concludes that "in an age of limitless information and increasing misinformation, education must do more than transmit content — it must equip students to question critically, interpret wisely and act with discernment.”
