The Mendes Gonçalves Foundation (FMG) in Portugal, has launched the pilot project “Cuidar em Rede” (Caring in Network), an initiative aimed at improving and valuing early childhood care, promoting a model of close contact and support for children aged 0 to 3 years. Developed in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation Portugal and the Santarém Employment and Vocational Training Centre – IEFP Santarém, the course is free of charge and includes a 150-hour theoretical component in a face-to-face format, complemented by 120 hours of practical training in daycare centres in the participating municipalities. The initiative focuses on creating a collaborative network between carers, daycare centres, and technicians, promoting an integrated model of early childhood care and education. It also includes training for coordinators who will monitor and supervise the caregivers in the field, ensuring educational quality and consistency in practices.
