The revitalisation of a world heritage site in Bahrain, a Palestinian museum and a preschool made of bamboo are among the six winning projects of this year’s Aga Khan Award for Architecture, a prestigious prize granted every three years to honour projects in Muslim majority communities. Marking the fourteenth cycle of the programme, the winning projects were selected from a shortlist of 20 buildings from 16 countries, which was revealed in April of this year. This year, the Revitalisation of Muharraq world heritage site, the Public Spaces Development Programme in Tatarstan, and the Wasit Wetland Centre mark the first projects in Bahrain, Russia and the United Arab Emirates respectively to have ever received the prize.
